About Us

THE CHIROPRACTIC PATIENTS’ ASSOCIATION
Registered Charity No: 328135

ABOUT

Since its formation in 1966, the Chiropractic Patients’ Association (CPA) has played a significant role in the development of the profession in the UK. The passing of the Chiropractors Act in 1994 and the development and formalisation of the General Chiropractic Council (GCC) in 1999 were major milestones along the way to its major objective – recognition of the value of chiropractic treatment within the medical profession and its wider availability within the National Health Service (NHS). The CPA is the only body representing patient interests to the GCC.

The Aims of the Chiropractic Patients’ Association are:

  • Patients Helpline, dealing in all aspects of chiropractic
  • Free Magazine. Tri-annual, informative “Back Chat” to all members, plus chiropractors and trainee chiropractors
  • Recognition of the CPA as a patient group by the General Chiropractic Council
  • Representation of the CPA on the Lay Partnership Group of the College of Chiropractors
  • Increasing awareness of the benefits of chiropractic treatment to the public
  • Improving availability of chiropractic within the National Health Service
  • Funding research for the benefit of chiropractic patients
  • Loan funding for dedicated students, to increase the inadequate number of registered chiropractors in the UK
